If you would like to have a discussion board activated, or if there are other features on Blackboard that you would like to use, please let me know.

You will need to use some sort of statistical software for this class. The TA and I can support you in using Stata. You're welcome to use another software, but you will be on your own for support.

You can use Stata on the cloud at GW; reviews so far are not very encouraging. Contact the TA with questions about how to do this.

In non-pandemic times, you can also use Stata on GW library computers. Most students seem to feel this is the better option.

If you cannot access the library, I strongly encourage you just to buy a student license for Stata. See information here. You'll need Stata-SE, and I think that this is well worth the $125 cost.

If you'd like to do some Stata self-study before the semester begins in earnest, I highly recommend

• UCLA's Stata Learning Modules. I'd focus on the first two “fundamentals”.
• Chapter 1 of UCLA's Regression with Stata
